Garlic is absolutely hands down one of the most important herbs that I have in my kitchen. As a proponent of home remedies I recommend adding this to your kitchen essentials as well.
I have it as my top remedy for such things as sore throats, colds, fever, runny nose, infections (yeast or ear) and it is a great superfood. In my experience the best way to eat it for healing purposes is raw.
Because my family eats such a high level of real foods we very rarely get sick but I always have my home remedy seen below in the cabinet ready to be taken at a moments notice.
Sanskrit records document garlic remedies approximately 5,000 years ago, and the Chinese have been using it for at least 3,000 years. Hippocrates, Aristotle, and Pliny cited numerous therapeutic applications for garlic.
Here are some of the benefits of garlic:
There are some people that are allergic to raw garlic but I am sure those people are probably aware of that issue by now anyway but if you're not sure take a very small portion at a time. You also want to be careful not to over use garlic as it can cause irritation in the digestive tract.
Here is my very simple go to remedy:
I actually have this made at the beginning of each fall season and let it sit in the medicine cabinet until someone needs to use it. You can refrigerate if you wish, but I don't. Honey has been found in the tombs in Egypt and the honey is still edible, yet another amazing superfood.
It does not take much of this amazing combination to be effective. Take about 1 tsp in the morning and if you don't feel better take it every 4-5 hours. You might want to hold your nose and chase it with some water, it is pretty powerful stuff but I have found it to be VERY effective for my family.
