Be The Change
The first question that I have for you reading this is - Are you leading by example? We cannot expect our children to eat a healthy meal if we are not doing this ourselves. I personally feel that the reason why we have some of the items we have in the house is because deep down inside these are the things that we like or crave. My recommendation KEEP IT OUT OF THE HOUSE, DON'T BUY IT. And if you do buy it, make it for a special occasion or like in our household once a week we have bad food day, where I don’t preach to them about what they have eaten for that day. It seems to work pretty well. Also don't let your child dictate what you buy, because you know that they will more than likely choose, things that they don't realize are extremely unhealthy for them. Better yet if you have a hard time saying no to the child don’t take them shopping, have daddy watch them for an hour or two. You have to be the change that you want to see in the world and that starts at home. And no mom, it is not as hard as you think to fix a meal that has real nutrition in it. There will be future postings with quick and easy recipes with natural ingredients that the body can identify and make use of.
First things is first
I realize that some families will have to take baby steps in order to get to the ultimate healthy meal and we are definitely not looking to put pressure on you. But if you are at this site it is because you are looking to make improvements in your and your family's meals and together as a community we can support each other in our quest for high nutrition. I promise once you start making the transition you will see positive changes for the family. One of the things that is most significant for me is that my children rarely get sick, and when they do mommy has the home remedy. One of those things being garlic.
The following is a list of some of the worst additive offenders in foods. Deep down inside I think we know that these items are really not good for us. Ask yourself these questions. Do any of these items sound natural? How does my body know what to do with this synthetic laboratory made enhancer? They are put in our foods for preservation purposes and sometimes just for the addictive qualities which make it harder to stop choosing these particular items (you can’t eat just one) because it is giving the endocrine system mixed messages that are confusing to the body. My father made mention to me the other day that he had some slices of bread that were on the counter for at least 3 weeks and he was so amazed that there was no mold on the bread. Food is supposed to break down at some point. It’s a part of the life cycle, things that compose eventually decompose. One of my pet names for these types of “food” is petrified food.
So here is a quick bullet point, like a starting point to get you going on your path to becoming a healthy family. ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR FAMILY IS TO READ THE LABELS!!!!! Avoid these items like the plague:
We are inundated with these petrified foods that have absolutely no nutritional value whatsoever and these are the reasons why our children are suffering from illness that in the past did not occur until adulthood, which even then it can be prevented. It's time to realize that we and our children need REAL FOOD. The epidemic is already here, so it’s time to turn the wheel back the other way. When you and your children stop eating so much processed food I promise that you will see a difference in behavior and in waistlines. As I have stated before, our children are the first generation that is not supposed to live as long as their parents, LET'S CHANGE THIS. So please moms and dads let’s make a change so that we can show our children that we can all change and make the best choices for the benefit of our future and future generations so that we can all lead longer, healthier lives together.
