A Natural Home is easier than you think.....
Let's face it you spend a lot of your time away from home, but when the day is done this is the one place that needs to give you a sense of comfort and security. Why not make it an environment that you enjoy coming home to. Below are some areas of concern for many families. We have found the best ways to address each of them.
All I need is the air that I breathe
It has been said that the air in your home is dirtier than the air that is outside. This makes a lot of sense when you think about it because the same air is being recycled all of the time. With the amount of chemicals that are in anything from our furniture to our paint and carpet it is important to try and combat this part of the natural lifestyle by doing what you can is this area. Here are a few ideas that we can recommend:
The purity of water
Your body is made up of anywhere between 70 - 80% water depending upon your age. Therefore, I believe it to be one of the most crucial and important things to consider in your day. The level of purity is of concern these days they are even seeing signs of pharmaceuticals in the water because just as the air in your home is recycled so our water is also recycled through the water treatment plants. So what is a person to do? Our suggestion is to buy a filter. Reverse Osmosis filters seem to do a very good job of cleaning out many impurities. There are also Alkaline Water Systems which is what I highly recommend. They can be a bit pricier but I can justify the expense because my body is my most precious asset. Check out the picture to the side. I did a personal experiment just checking for chlorine, with my local tap water, reverse osmosis water as well as alkaline water and the results will tell you what the best drinking water is hands down.
You can find a spring close by and get the real good stuff. This is one of the many things that our bodies cry out for on a daily basis that we have seemed to ignore. The best thing to do every day is to make sure it is the first thing that enters your lips , then you will see that you will start craving it more often.
Also the impact that the bottled industry is having on the environment and on the communities where they extract the water is actually doing way more harm than good. Bottled water is creating dead zones in the ocean because of how plastic accumulates into one area of the ocean and are killing the sea animals in that area. These sea animals think it is food so they eat it, or they just get trapped underneath it all and cannot breath.
One last thing to consider about plastic is the fact that it has a tendency to leach chemicals into the water especially since it travels so many miles before it gets to the store and during transportation those bottles get pretty heated. So purchasing a BPA Free container will help control this issue and you will be environmentally friendly at the same time:)
This is one of my favorite parts of the natural living movement. The thing that I like the most is that I can use most of these products for my home AND my beauty care. It is so easy to save costs when it comes to cleaning products. Here are some of my recommendations:
Castile Soap which is made from vegetable oil rather than petroleum. It's gentle, dissolves more completely, and doesn't form hard scum. Dr. Bronner's soap kills 99.9% germs and it is all natural organic soap. When combined with tea tree oil it works as a natural disinfectant for cleaning purposes.
It can be used for:
Baking Soda has so many uses but we will be touching on just a few. It is also a very low cost item. You can purchase a huge bag at a Costco or Sams for about $5.00. It is environmentally safe and has been used for the last 150 years.
Hydrogen Peroxide (3%) is not only for medical issues in the home. Another product that has many purposes. It is a powerful oxidizer that is stronger than chlorine, chlorine dioxide, and potassium permanganate according to H2O2.com. Always check a spot first before trying it on large surfaces to make sure it does not stain certain materials.
Vinegar - instead of using it for food (use Raw Apple Cider for this) you can use it for a green clean in your home, It's an acid so it dissolves soap and grease. Don't worry the smell once dried will go away. Mix one cup of water with one cup of vinegar in a spray bottle, you can also add a little essential oil for a nice smell.
Quick, Easy and Efficient is the new way to go!!!
