Your husband directed me to your website a while ago. I found your website and its info to be exactly what I was looking for and the timing was perfect. I knew I was headed for more natural and raw eating but couldn’t really find anything that I liked. Everything else seemed too commercial to be honest. To make a long story short, your website led me to do two life-changing things. One, was to buy a book called Green For Life by Victoria Boutenko. That book finally convinced me to eat the way I do now (and will for the rest of my life). The second thing that you convinced me on was to finally invest in a VitaMix blender to make green smoothies. I pretty much blend my greens and fruit twice per day. I’m really good at it too. I love it and so does my body, mind, and spirit. I haven’t felt this good physically since my early 30s. One cool thing that has left my body for good is my battle with a skin condition called eczema. It’s gone! Outta here! I am finally healing from 32 years of battling it. I also had my best year ever cycling and racing. Getting older and faster is not a bad thing!
"I've cut out sugar and have increased the plant based diet with scaled back carbs. Blood sugars are coming down, blood pressure is great. I'm OFF my cholesterol medication! Working out at least 3 times a week. When I started my plant based diet and exercise in Oct 2014, I weighed 165 lbs and now I'm at 159 lbs. Energy level is thru the roof. Thanks for the advice and encouragement. I'm taking the Diabetes and reversing the negative affects!" - Chris P.
I struggled for over fifteen years with trying unsuccessfully to eat more plant-based. I failed again and again. Each time I would try my craving for meat pulled me back. I declared the whole thing impossible and unnatural for someone like me who loved to exercise and who lives a crazy busy lifestyle with three small homeschooled children and several businesses in different cities. Well, Melissa Hernandez's insights, education and encouragement got this former meat-lover to the point of success. Read this book! Switching to a plant-based diet in the proper way has changed my life. I eat as much as I want of flavorful and healthy options that are easy to prepare, and I never get hungry or feel weak like I used to. I highly recommend this book to anyone who knows that plant-based is the way to go but needs someone to hold their hand to actually make the commitment like I did. Now, no matter where I am or who around me is choosing to eat the American Standard Diet, I crave only what is truly the healthiest for optimum function. Huge for someone whose guilty pleasure was once a thick juicy steak. I'm so grateful. - Debbie D.
have read many plant based and vegan books on how to eat, but this one is well researched and backed up by several experts and doctors. The weeks worth of recipes are tasty as well as healthy. I did not know that eating so healthy could taste so good. It is as if Missy Hernandez takes several different styles of strict diets and throws them all together to make a much more satisfying attempt at plant-based eating. If she puts out a recipe book with more of her recipes in it I would definitely buy it as well! Rebecca L.
After years of research, I know that more fruits and vegetables and less processed foods, including meats, are better for my body. One of the reasons I'm so hesitant to give up meats entirely is because of how delicious they are. After reading this book, I've learned there are absolutely delectable dishes that are plant-based, incorporating items that I never liked eating before (i.e., mushrooms). Over the course of the last year, I've limited my meat intake and included many recipes from this book. I've easily lost weight without needing to increase my physical activity, and my energy levels have been higher and more stable. There is no question that eating plant based (even if not 100%) is a great tool in achieving your wellness goals, and this book helps give you the jump start to make that happen. - Perry P.
I cannot say enough good things about this book. I have to admit, that I am a hard sell when it comes to anything remotely connected to "vegetarian", because I do love my meats. But in wanting to resolve some digestive issues and also wanting to get into the best shape possible for my upcoming wedding, I decided to give this a try. It was incredibly easy to follow and within a short period of time, some stubborn weight that my body had been holding on to started to drop away. And I found myself feeling better and with more energy. Even my day to day moods were improved! I had not intended this to become a "lifestyle" for me, but figured it would be a good jump start towards my goals, but as they say "the proof is in the pudding", and the way I feel when following Missy's easily understood food plan is a way that I want to continue to feel. Further proof came recently when I went out to dinner with my fiance, and ordered the way I always had - which definitely was not in keeping with what I learned from reading Missy's book. As much fun as that dinner was, and as delicious as it tasted, what followed was several days of digestive misery. And several days of feeling beyond sluggish. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who wants to feel healthier and look better and have more energy. - Henry F.
This is a great way to start on your plant based diet or if you just want to live a healthier fuller life!
Very easy to read so you wont get discouraged when you are trying new recipes!
Great read!- Kathy T
So all week I have been DREADING getting on the scale today.. I work at Wal-Mart and with Valentine’s tomorrow there have been little chocolate evils everywhere and I have indulged more than I should so I’ve been scared.. I forgot about weighing myself and got a bowl of cereal.. and then when I put it up I was like NO.. now its gonna be horrible.. Well.. I got on the scale and it is 136 exactly.. barely really.. just about 135.. I guess small changes like no more milk.. i haven’t had milk in about a month and that probably was my biggest evil because I drank it SO much.. I’ve had like a veggie delite everyday at work this week and it never gets old to me because I can change which veggie’s I want on it.. sadly i’ve gotten a cookie once or twice.. I’ve lost two pounds this week.. and I know I maintained a horrible 140 without doing ANYTHING physical so I have to give all my success to Zumba and not drinking milk.. lol oh and I only ate meat once this week.. I’m trying to cut back as much as I can.. and I didn’t eat much then.. I love my mom’s roast because of the carrots and potatoes.. i’ve always been like that.. I’ve never been a BIG meat eater so I don’t think it will be hard for me to switch over as soon as I have my own place and buy my own groceries.. I cannot WAIT!! I’m so happy you put these recipes on here because they will help when I’m needing something new to create for lunch or dinner!! I just wanna say thank you because if you weren’t in my life I would probably know zero about good or bad food.. your presence has enlightened me more than you know!! only four more pounds to go before I win my bet with AJ! (his way to motivate me) Which has REALLY worked!! and i won’t stop there!
